Service Background & Mission Statement
The Northeast Harbor Ambulance Service Inc., originally known as The Northeast Harbor Fire Co. Inc. has been providing emergency medical care to the residents and visitors of the Town of Mount Desert and surrounding areas since 1938. Geographically, our coverage area includes the villages of Northeast Harbor; Seal Harbor, Somesville, Hall Quarry, and Pretty Marsh. In the 2001, the Service became a separate Non-Profit 501(c) 3 organization. We enjoy a positive and productive relationship with all who come to our island. Our EMS personnel consist of volunteer pay-per-call Maine licensed Emergency Medical Technicians and trained volunteer drivers. We staff two state-of-the-art Advance Life Support level ambulances available 24 hours a day out of our Northeast Harbor station.
The purpose of the Service is to provide emergency medical care and ambulance transport to the residents and visitors of the Town of Mount Desert, Maine and any additional geographic areas covered by mutual aid agreements. The Service operates within the limits set forth by the State of Maine Emergency Medical Services and its regional (Region Four) representatives.
