Who We Are & What We Do
- In addition to our non-licensed members our present EMS staff consists of Emergency Medical Technicians; Paramedics; Advanced EMT Intermediates ; Basic Level EMTs and FF/Drivers
- We answered over 230 calls for assistance in 2007. We also assist the other island's EMS Services: SWH/Tremont Ambulance, Bar Harbor Fire, Acadia National Park, and Islesford Rescue.
- As highly trained technicians, we complete stringent initial and continuing Maine State EMS training, licensing, and education requirements.
- We are volunteer, pay-per-call EMT's and FF/Drivers available to respond 24 hours a day. We are in immediate contact with our dispatch via modern two-way radios and pager system.
- Our state-of-the-art ambulances are housed in and responds to calls out of the Mt. Desert Municipal Fire Station in Northeast Harbor. In June 2008, we added our 2nd. Paramedic Level ambulance.
- Other services included blood pressure & health screenings, school & community presentations, health and safety classes, and Fire Department assistance.
- We sponsor a recognized 5-mile road race and fund raising raffle each August attracting over 150 talented runners from all over New England.
- We are a private, incorporated, not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization governed by an elected Board of Directors.
- Our membership is open to all interested individuals whether or not they hold EMS licensing.
